CustOMER Since 1990

I miss the clean freshness and quirkiness of Remo which is so characteristic of Sydney! Basically, I MISS the surprises that one inevitably finds in Remo, the BEST...and I mean THE BEST T-shirts ever...especially when they brought in S, M and L (not just a free size for all); the smell of great coffee and caramel biscuits wafting through to the ground floor from the lower ground floor of the old Remo store on Oxford Street,...and I MISS Sydney (because I'm now living abroad :`( )!!!

bholu/boah-loooo//adj 1. descriptive of naive and free artistic expression. 2. a term of endearment and affection toward a small child - ORIGIN from Katchchh community, Gujarat, India.

Bholu is the work of Australian designer Jodie Fried.

In 2001 Jodie went to India on a scholarship as a set and costume designer. Her three month stint turned into two years and during that time she developed a passion for the country and its people.

Bholu products are designed in Australia and are brought to life by the hands of women artisans in Gujarat, India. The designs are a delicate mix of children's expression, ancient handwork and contemporary designs. Each piece is hand embroidered using traditional techniques, giving each product its own unique and original personality.

These appealing Bholu Bubalahs are based on drawings by children in India. To develop the designs Jodie heads into the slums of Indian villages armed with paper, crayons, food and water to do workshops with the kids.

Says Jodie: "The philosophy behind Bholu is about creating products that we love and live with, while benefiting communities we work with along the way. By using their traditional skills, the women artisans gain an income, hence independence and opportunity and from the workshops, and the children have time to be children."

As a Fair Trade and Climate Neutral Company, Bholu's range of high end homewares have social responsibility and awareness, along with sophistication, intelligence and integrity in design.

There are 5 Bohlu Bubalahs, and they each come in 3 colours. Each Bubalah comes with its own story and profile e.g. Marjorie Duck likes to eat chocolate covered sultanas and never wears socks.

Delightful.
